Self esteem is developed through intentionally designed experiences which foster: Competence, Confidence, & Connectedness. These experiences must simultaneously challenge just beyond one’s comfort zone, celebrate specific moments and actions, and allow young people to initiate collaboratively around BIG ideas. At GLC, campers will take on outdoor challenges, ropes course elements (low and high), kayaking, swimming, youth designed games, art projects, role play, scavenger hunts, mindfulness practices, and so much more! Girls will develop their voice in an inclusive environment with other young leaders. Applying today’s research in the areas of adolescent development, adaptive leadership, experiential & inquiry-based learning, GLC participants will identify personal leadership attributes and responses. Girls will learn specific skills and language in order to develop collaborative communities and experience fulfilling relationships. As a strengths-based organization, all facilitators, teen mentors, and participants take the Stregntsh-Finder assessment tool. We use each individual’s unique results to explore leadership and communication strategies and the relevant research, putting theory into practice. Participants will design, implement and assess team challenges using their strengths while celebrating and leveraging the strengths of others. Campers will emerge prepared to collaborate effectively in diverse groups, apply their passions to enhance their communities, and lead others in a variety of settings.
Important Notes: Monday times (8:30 am – 4:00 pm) & Tues-Fri (9:00 am – 3:00 pm) After-Care is Available on site until 5:30 pm each day.
Friday 2:30: Caregivers, parents, and guardians are invited to join us for GLC video wrap up and Certificate Ceremony!
