GLC Description

Girls Leadership Collaborative is a strengths-based leadership development organization which serves anyone who identifies with the female experience. We are an inclusive, human development organization that empowers girls, equips educators, and supports parents & caregivers as they guide their daughters to become agents of change in their communities. Using a variety of formats, Girls Leadership Collaborative programs and camps delve into group formation theory to better understand adolescent behaviors and motivations. Through peer-led team building exercises, as well as peer-designed group challenges, games, and specialized activities girls will experience a safe, supportive environment to practice initiating, self-expressing, and changing our relationship with failure and conflict. Our researched-based, individualized curriculum explores leadership behaviors and uncovers personal passions. We make important research in neuroscience accessible while girls uncover their strengths in a fun and highly engaging environment. Ultimately, we provide the space to examine who we are being for, and with, each other.

Camp Description

This *NEW* 2-week camp offering designed for our partnership with Lincoln School features GLC’s signature elements including the high and low ropes course, Gallup’s Strengths-Explorer tool, group challenges and engaging experiences designed to challenge girls to practice self- expression and productive risk-taking. Girls will spend time in leadership lab groups (10-12 girls), two per division; rising 3rd-5th and 6th-8th. We partner among the divisions using a big-sister/little sister pairing for modeling, and every participant will have a buddy we call “mirror” in her lab group for debriefing and for specific activities.  Using brain-based research-driven short micro-sessions, girls learn the neurobiology and drivers of decision-making, risk-taking, and blindspots. This camp welcomes returning girls and those new to GLC in grades 3 through 8. Girls will enjoy social time, interacting with guest practitioners in yoga and mindfulness exercises to help quiet the mind. In addition, the camp will provide girls with the opportunity to select from a variety of themes that interest them related to leadership such as: public speaking, design-thinking challenges, our signature game-changer speaker series, exploration of political, environmental, or social activism, designing service learning opportunities, and outcome-oriented conflict resolution techniques. With a focus on FUN, we will build critical skills, confidence, and connectedness
